THE BEACHES IN
SUĆURAJ
It
would be unthinkable to spend Your summer holiday in Sućuraj
without sunbathing and swimming in the amazing crystal blue sea.
The main local beach in Sućuraj is only 30 metres away from the
"House Ana". The house is situated at one end of a small bay
where the beach is. The sea here is quite shallow and there are
pebbles and sand both in the sea and on the beach what makes
this beach appealing and convenient for toddlers and older
children.
Due to the position of Sućuraj at the very cape of the island,
there is, on the south and north side of the island, over 20
kilometres of coast which is mostly untouched nature.
On the south side
of the island there are lovely shallow coves, mostly sandy, that
can be reached by boats and where You can enjoy swimming,
diving, and fishing. On the north side of the island there are
numerous small beaches that can be reached by car, bicycle, or
on foot. All the beaches are pebbly, and the sea is unbelievably
clear and clean. Four kilometres away from Sućuraj there is a
campsite called "Mlaska" with magnificent sandy beaches. The
road to Mlaska is also the one that connects Sućuraj to the rest
of the island which means that you are only an hour's drive away
from the towns of Hvar, Jelsa, and Starigrad. These ancient
centres of the historical Dalmatian region and their numerous
historical sites are definitely worth visiting. |
